GCSE RESULTS 2017

Congratulations to the staff and boys on this year's outstanding GCSE results, the best since I arrived at Desborough College and the fifth year in succession that they have improved.

Each year I like to compare our GCSE examination performance with that of boys nationally because that gives a true measure of how good we are compared to other schools. This year's figures endorse my opinion that Desborough is an outstanding school but also supports my view that single-sex education between the ages of 11 and 16 can enhance the academic achievement of both boys and girls.

A LEVEL RESULTS 2017

Congratulations to Desborough College’s sixth-formers and teachers who have excelled themselves this year by achieving the best A Level and BTEC results in recent memory in every single performance measure and thereby continuing the trend of year-on-year improvements established over the last five years.

The number of higher grades achieved at A Level has improved significantly with A*, A and B grades accounting for well over half of the total grades awarded. 22% of our students gained A* - A grades, and 70% achieving A* - C.

The number of students achieving Distinction and Distinction* grades in their BTEC examinations is astonishingly high and there have been many exceptional individual performances.

They have been a superb cohort and I shall miss them all, although I am thoroughly delighted  that the overwhelming majority have been awarded places at their first-choice university or are embarking upon their chosen career pathways.
