At Desborough College, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. Our students are encouraged to look beyond themselves, build positive relationships, and make a meaningful contribution to the communities of which they are a part of. Within our House system, students work together to support charitable causes through fundraising events and initiatives such as Express Yourself Day and Culture Day, celebrating individuality, diversity and cultural understanding. Community service, including litter-picking, provides opportunities for students to take responsibility for their local environment, while our Sports Leaders support local primary schools in competitions ranging from fencing to football. We also foster strong relationships with our alumni through sporting fixtures, including golf and cricket, creating connections that extend beyond our school.
Our Tutor Time, Assembly and PSHE programmes complement these experiences by helping students develop a deeper understanding of societal themes and contemporary issues, both locally and globally. Through discussion, reflection and exposure to different perspectives, students develop the empathy, confidence and understanding needed to contribute positively to society and demonstrate the British values of tolerance and respect. Together, these opportunities bring our motto, Dream and Endeavour, to life. We want every young person to dream of making a positive difference and to endeavour to achieve this through connection, hard work, creative and critical thinking, and resilience. Ultimately, we want our students to understand that success is not simply about personal achievement, but about the contribution they make to others and the lasting legacy they leave behind.
