Supporting Wellbeing

At Desborough College, the wellbeing of our students is central to our pastoral provision. Every student has a dedicated Form Tutor who provides a consistent point of contact and helps them to feel known, supported, and connected to school life. Students are also part of a House, creating a wider sense of belonging and providing regular opportunities to work and socialise with peers through House activities and events.

Alongside this, our Hub Team includes non-teaching pastoral staff who can provide bespoke mentoring and support tailored to individual needs. We work closely in partnership with families, keeping communication open and ensuring that parents and carers are involved in supporting their child’s wellbeing. Where appropriate, we also work with external agencies to ensure students can access the right support at the right time.

We recognise that positive wellbeing is strengthened through relationships, shared experiences and a strong sense of community. Throughout the year, students take part in a range of events and activities designed to bring them together beyond the classroom. Our Ethical Leaders Day, for example, provides opportunities for students to engage in visits, practical activities and collaborative challenges both on site and in the wider community. These experiences encourage students to connect with one another, develop confidence and resilience, and build the interpersonal skills that contribute to positive mental health and wellbeing. Through this combination of strong relationships, individual support and opportunities to belong and participate, we aim to ensure that every student feels valued, understood, and able to thrive.
