At Desborough College, we believe that excellent attendance, punctuality and positive routines provide an important foundation for success. Arriving on time, being prepared and following consistent routines help students make the most of every opportunity to learn, while developing the self-discipline, responsibility and resilience they will need beyond school.
Clear routines provide structure and security, enabling students to know what is expected of them and to develop positive habits that support both their wellbeing and achievement. In this way, we help every young person to Dream and Endeavour with purpose, confidence and pride.
When the school gates open at 8.10am, students are greeted by members of the Pastoral Leadership Team, who will be available to answer any questions or listen to any concerns students may have and to provide support. Uniform checks are conducted every morning, and students will be able to go into the canteen to purchase breakfast items.
In between lessons, students have a five minute transition time and are expected to arrive to their lessons on time, enter classrooms calmly, and begin the starter activities teachers will have ready for them. All staff across the school support with lesson transitions so that valuable learning time is not lost.
At the end of the school day at 3.10pm (2.20pm on a Wednesday) the Pastoral Leadership Team will bid farewell to students, conduct uniform checks, and again be on hand to answer any questions or to listen to concerns and provide support as required.
