At Desborough College, we are committed to ensuring that every Sixth Form student is exceptionally well prepared for their next step, whether that is university, a degree apprenticeship, a higher apprenticeship, or employment. Students receive dedicated guidance throughout the Sixth Form, with UniFrog providing a comprehensive platform through which they can explore university and apprenticeship courses and careers, compare opportunities and manage their applications. Dedicated daily tutor time and our weekly personal development programme provide regular opportunities to discuss future pathways, application timelines and next steps, while visits to UCAS and careers fairs enable students to encounter a broad range of universities, employers, apprenticeship providers and professional pathways. This is complemented by visits from Desborough alumni and speakers from industry, work experience opportunities and regular promotion of university summer schools, masterclasses and widening-participation programmes through our weekly bulletin. We actively encourage students to seek out these opportunities, recognising that experiences beyond the classroom can deepen academic interests, build confidence and strengthen future applications.

For students aspiring to the most competitive universities and courses, we provide additional guidance and preparation tailored to their ambitions. Students considering courses such as Medicine, Dentistry and other highly competitive disciplines have access to additional resources and preparation for relevant university admissions assessments, alongside guidance on the wider application process. We also encourage students to experience university study first-hand. Through our relationship with the University of Oxford, students have opportunities to visit Oxford and engage with academic experiences designed to broaden their understanding of university life and study. Visits and academic experiences at universities including Cambridge and Royal Holloway further allow students to attend lectures, explore different academic disciplines and gain a genuine taste of higher education. Whether a student's ambition is to study at a leading university, pursue an apprenticeship, or enter a particular profession, our aim is to ensure that they have the information, guidance, experience and confidence to make informed choices and to Dream and Endeavour beyond Desborough.
