Today’s employers are looking for confident, work-ready candidates who have the practical knowledge, experience and skills that BTECs provide. BTECs are high quality, hands-on qualifications grounded in the real world of work.

BTECs are all about learning by doing, and that means our BTEC students put what they learn into practice straight away. Throughout the course, they work on a series of assignments set in real-life scenarios, developing the practical knowledge and skills employers and universities are looking for. It’s so much more than just qualification– BTEC qualified students will keep applying what they learn on their BTEC course as they progress into the Sixth Form, to university or a job – and throughout their future career.

BTECs have been developed in consultation with employers and higher education experts, so they can trust that anyone who is BTEC qualified will demonstrate the high standards required for further study and employment. At Desborough College, we are constantly seeking opportunities to enrich our curriculum offering with BTECs, and have a wealth of experience in delivering these successfully in a variety of subject areas.

I’m really enjoying studying BTEC applied science (medical) alongside my other a level options, my course provides hands on scientific experience, and I feel more comfortable and confident learning and remembering the subject content this way. We apply our learning straight away in lessons and are developing many transferable, industry-ready skills
