Learning SupportSend students are assessed for their individual needs and support is put into place to meet those needs. This may be support within their usual classroom setting, in dedicated small group sessions or one-to-one targeted intervention.
Our teaching staff are committed to the success and well-being of all our students. However for those who need additional support, our learning support department team is here to help. Our SEND Inclusion policy can be viewed on the College website. Students with Special Educational Needs Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Mr Thomas Cradduck, is responsible for the overview of each student identified as having special educational needs. The College has a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSA), who work with the students who are on the SEN/D register. The teaching staff work closely with the LSA’s to support each student with their learning. The student’s progress is closely monitored and this information is reported to parents/guardians regularly. Partnership Outside Agencies The learning support department works in partnership with a number of outside agencies to support students who need more than the college team can offer. This includes: The Educational Psychology Service, Autistic Spectrum Disorder Team, Speech and Language Therapy, Counselling Service and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Students with English as an additional language We provide support for students whose first language is not English to help them improve their fluency and comprehension. |
